Becoming Holy

Nothing on Earth can make us holy. Contact with a holy God is the only source of holiness for unholy men. However, becoming holy is also a daily process. If it were not a daily process, then the Holy Spirit could have made the world instantly holy and free from sin as soon as God raised Jesus from the dead. But the death and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ, demands full cooperation from everyone who receives this glorious salvation. The salvation that comes from the resurrection of Christ wraps itself within a seed, the incorruptible seed of the Word of God. That living seed of salvation makes contact with our dead spirit and soul, bringing us to life for a second time since our existence on the planet Earth.

The Holy Spirit will continue to work for us as long as the Father ordains. He will do His all to bring the church into the unity of the faith and Spirit, and into unity with each other. His intent is to make the church a living sanctuary of God through the Spirit, and through the church, dictate to principalities and powers what is the manifold wisdom of God. It is His distinct purpose to mature us into the very image of  Christ and give us His divine nature.

The very God of faith has given gifts to the church; “To prepare God’s people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach the unity of the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ (Ephesians 4:12-13).” What is amazing is that we all have to come into the unity of the faith together. He is not bringing us into unity one at a time. He will bring us into unity together.

He didn’t take Joshua and Caleb into the promise land until the entire nation of Israel was ready to enter. Joshua and Caleb, along with Moses, was the only ones that believed God in all He had said. But He made them to wonder forty years in the wilderness along with the others. Some in the church, like Joshua and Caleb, may be ready to inherit the promise, but until we are all ready and become mature in the full measure of Christ, we will not inherit the promise.

We must cry out to know Him as never before, and allow Him to show us how to become a true worshiper.  Amen.
