Walk of grace
A “walk of grace” becomes a lifestyle into God where Jesus, the Christ Himself, is able to express His life through us. We know that godliness is God’s ability to express His life within us. And grace, which came through Jesus Christ, is His life’s expression within those who receive the work of grace. Power is expressed in our life when we live our life in the Holy Spirit—how wonderful that is.
Webster’s defines grace as, “unmerited divine assistance given to humans for their regeneration or sanctification; virtue coming from God.” The steps of grace then are; knowing God, abiding in God, and expressing God, which is actually eternal life. We know that the Scriptures define eternal life as; knowing, hearing, understanding, perceiving, recognizing, and becoming intimately acquainted with God. As you abide in the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, your life will express the Godhead bodily. A victorious life in Christ Jesus is God expressing His life through you. Because He causes us always to triumph in Christ Jesus. Our life from the inception of the new birth is always in Christ Jesus and not for Christ Jesus. We live out our life in Him not for Him. If we live for Him, we never receive the full benefit of the powerful force of grace.
This lifestyle of grace doesn’t develop from our sense of morality (right and wrong) or a value system that we may acquire after the new birth. God doesn’t want us to create our own system of values; He desires to place His virtues within us through daily communication and a growing relationship. It maybe necessary then for us to exchange the values we develop for His virtues. The values that I develop in my life (through my sense of right and wrong) may not suit the values which you are developing. But God’s virtues suit everyone. The virtues, which flow out of God to us, are able to bring us out, deliver us from bondages, and remove the value systems that we have in place. Our values of right and wrong are not all the same. This is the reason why some call good evil and evil good. Some Christians have spent their lives building a system of values that suit them. But God’s virtues are the answer to our life’s problems.
